Curt’s journey, with over 30 years of experience in boat building and restoration, started with Stan Hunter in 1993. For 13 years Curt learned the boat building trade from Stan until he decided to go on his own in 2006.
Building his own shop on his 10-acre property in Milford Bay, where he grew up as a child and still has many family ties, Curt with his wife Linda and 2 daughters, Kiersten and Paige, started Curt Hillman Boat Builder.
Curt Hillman Boat Builder is a small business which has one employee, Brian Marr, who has been with Curt for 8 years. Keeping it small ensures individualized attention to each wooden boat he brings into the shop.
Curt has an easy-going personality and he prides himself on working with his clients to ensure that the vision and expectations they have for their wooden boats is not only met but exceeded.
Quality woodworking and restoration is Curt’s main focus for all levels of jobs; from top coats to full bottom replacements, to refabricating that missing fitting. He works with the boat’s owner to restore the boat as close to the original condition as possible. Each boat he restores is a piece of history and he is proud to be part of the legacy of craftsmen who help keep this part of history alive.
Curt Hillman Boat Builder is also a member of the Antique Classic Boat Society (ACBS). He actively participates in their annual spring tour, where wooden boat enthusiasts visit each location of the various craftsmen in the area to see what they have been working on over the winter.
